On 22nd January over 120 people affected by diabetes came together online to mark the beginning of IDF Europe’s Centenary of Insulin Campaign. The webinar ‘The Future of Diabetes Care’ saw ISLET scientists, Henrik Semb and Eelco de Koning join a five strong panel of research expertise. Following brief talks about their work the panel was opened to questions from the diabetes community around future perspectives in therapy and cure.

The webinar focused on developments in terms of new medicines, advances in therapies and technologies which have the potential of making a significant impact in the way that people living with diabetes manage their condition. After a quick look back at the progress made in treating diabetes over the past 100 years, the webinar the looked to future solutions over the next 100 years, and ended with a call to action on what is required to further support research and innovation.

The three-year IDF campaign will focus on the future of diabetes care, particularly around themes: access to care, medicines, supplies and technologies and supporting education.
